Finish the Book You've Been Thinking About for Years
BookCamp gives you a clear path from idea to published book in 12 months or less, with the support to actually follow through.
Join the hundreds of writers who have made their books a reality!
You’ve got a story to tell.
But turning it into a finished book? That’s where most people get stuck.
The truth is you're not alone.
According to Business Insider, in the U.S. alone 200 million people want to write a book, yet only 3 percent of them actually follow through and get a book published.
Somewhere along the way, many writers hit
the same roadblocks:
You’re not sure how to structure the book.
Your idea is alive in your mind, but it hasn’t found its home on the page.
You second-guess where to begin or what comes next. You’re overwhelmed by everything you don’t know yet.
You can’t seem to stay consistent.
You have moments of momentum… and then long stretches where you don’t touch your manuscript at all.
Life gets busy, the energy fades, and writing slips further down the list.
You're stuck in your head.
You wonder if what you’re writing is actually good, or if there is an audience out there.
You wish you had someone to share ideas with and encourage you when you stall. You crave a community who really understands the struggle of turning a book from idea into reality.

What most writers need isn't more inspiration. They need structure, accountability, and clear feedback that helps them keep moving forward.

I'm Chad Allen.
After two decades acquiring and developing books in traditional publishing, including numerous national bestsellers, I saw firsthand what separated authors who made a big impact from the ones who didn't.
I knew with just a little guidance, many of those who were turned away could have made it. That experience lit a fire in me. I started a blog in 2012, built a coaching practice, and finally left my corporate job in 2018 to serve writers full-time.
Helping hundreds of authors go from dreaming about their book to holding it in their hands has been the honor of my life.
That's exactly why I created BookCamp.

You can cancel your subscription anytime.
We hope you'll want to stay with us until you get your book (or books!) into the world, but it's up to you.
I have some book ideas, but I don't know where to go from here. How do I know if I am ready for BookCamp?
Sometimes when you have book ideas, it's helpful to have some coaching around which idea is the best or how to strengthen a particular idea. Sometimes it's also helpful to be in a group of other writers with whom you can bounce ideas and trade encouragement. If you already have the coaching you need and a writing community or you don't need them at this time, no problem! But if you need either or both of these, we hope you'll give BookCamp a try. We'd love to support you!
How will BookCamp help me where I am?
BookCamp uses a success trail map as a visual reference for where you are and where you should go next. Here's the map:
At the beginning of your experience inside BookCamp, we ask you to identify where you are on the map, where you need to go next, and what part of the members' area will help you get there. It's a really effective tool!
How engaged is Chad?
Chad also hosts a live Fireside Chat at the beginning of each month. He presents a S'MORE (Something to Know, Maxim to Live By, Opportunity, Resource, and Encouragement), and then opens the floor for a LIVE Q&A.
You can also ask questions anytime in the BookCamp Facebook group. He regularly visits the Facebook group and responds individually to questions.
Chad also hosts at least one other live event per month. Examples include virtual writing retreats, expert interviews, “ask me anything” sessions, and multi-session master classes.
Finally, you can comment with questions on any of the trainings in the Members Area. Those comments go directly to Chad's email inbox, and he responds promptly to all of them.
Is the Members Area updated every month?
It sure is! Each month we host a new Fireside Chat call and upload the replay to the Members Area.
We also record at least one new training or expert interview each month.
What if I need to cancel my membership?
We understand that circumstances change and life happens. Use our convenient subscription update page or email us. We’re easy to work with. We’ll cancel you right away and still be your friend! Promise!
Is BookCamp for fiction or nonfiction writers?
Chad's primary expertise is with nonfiction, but several writers of fiction are longtime members of BookCamp and receive a lot of value from it. Whether you're writing fiction or nonfiction, some parts of the writing-to-publication process are the same. For example, increasingly novelists need to have a platform to be successful. BookCamp can help any writer grow a significant platform.
What if I'm not very tech savvy?
No worries! If you know how to click on a video and watch it, you know everything you need to get started in BookCamp.
Will my lack of tech savvy prevent me from growing my platform?
It's difficult to think of a successful modern-day author who does not have a website and at least one social media channel they engage (Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, for example). You may be able to think of one, but suffice to say, such authors are very (and increasingly) rare.
With that as background, if you're allergic to all technology, BookCamp's effectiveness will be limited for you. The good news is creating a website and using at least one social media channel has never been easier or more accessible than it is today. If you have a computer, access to WIFI, and the willingness to roll up your sleeves and learn, you can figure this out, we promise, and we'll help you!
Or if you're willing to invest a modest amount of money, we can point you to some tech pros who will help you get set up quickly and painlessly.
How much time does it take to work through BookCamp and get published?
As with all significant achievements, getting a book into the world requires sustained focus and hard work. The time to publication varies depending on how much you have in place when you begin as well as your commitment to the process. If you want to self-publish and you already have a website and a compelling book concept, it can take as little as three to six months. If you want to pursue a traditional publisher and you're just getting started, plan on at least 12 to 18 months. With that as background, if you're allergic to all technology, BookCamp's effectiveness will be limited for you. Or if you're willing to invest a modest amount of money, we can point you to some tech pros who will help you get set up quickly and painlessly.
Will BookCamp provide publisher connections?
We don't provide direct introductions to agents and publishers for liability and other reasons. What we will do is help you develop a short list of agents and publishers who would be a great fit for your book.
Making contact with relevant agents and publishers is not the hard part. The hard part is developing a great concept, a solid platform, and enough writing skill to wow those to whom you pitch your book. And that is what BookCamp is all about!
I'm interested in self-publishing or indie publishing. Will BookCamp help me?
Yes! Whether you self-publish or pursue a traditional publisher, you need a strong concept, a platform, and a marketing plan so that however your book is published, it finds an audience and sells enough copies to make the biggest impact possible. BookCamp helps you with all of those things. You also need to be a great writer so that people have a good experience with your book and tell their friends about it. BookCamp will help you become the best writer you can be.
Are you planning any live in-person events?
Yes! In 2024, we hosted a live event in Chicago called Midwest Muse. In 2025, we hosted a four-day writing retreat, BookCamp Live, in Holly, Michigan (with real fireside chats and s'mores!)
To learn more and register for BookCamp Live 2026: Click Here
Also, as Chad travels around, he has a habit of hosting meetups for BookCampers. So far he’s hosted these in the Denver area and in West Michigan (where he lives).
Do you guarantee success?
I can't guarantee success because I don't know how you define success, but even if I did, so much of success depends on the writer. Are you willing to work hard? Are you willing to take the guidance I'm offering? BookCamp is not a silver bullet; you still have to do the work. But it does provide expert guidance and a strong supportive community. If you're willing to work on your book within the BookCamp community, your book and your sales will be so much better than they would be otherwise. That's a guarantee!
What's your refund policy?
We want to offer you a 100% risk-free guarantee.
When you join, you’ve got 30 days to decide if BookCamp is right for you. If within those 30 days you give BookCamp a go and still feel like it’s not right for you, we will refund 100% of your payment.

“I signed a nonfiction book contract with a traditional Christian publisher this year thanks to BookCamp and Chad Allen. Chad is an industry expert who steps down and morphs into a trusted guide, helping writers blaze a trail through the publishing jungle. I wouldn’t be where I am today without his wisdom, guidance and friendship. I can’t say thank you enough.”

"The best news to an author is this: You are not alone! I love BookCamp for giving me a helpful roadmap to publishing my book. Whether I need help with book concept, author platform, or copyediting, BookCamp is a vibrant community of fellow authors who are there when I need advice, support, or a friendly kick in the pants. I’m also grateful for Chad’s group coaching sessions. These alone are worth the subscription.”

“As an author and writing teacher, I value BookCamp for its wealth of well-organized, relevant information. There are monthly opportunities for personalized feedback and weekly interactions with other writers and would-be writers. The best aspect of BookCamp to me is feeling like an individual and not part of some anonymous cohort. Chad Allen does that."

A Year From Now,
Where Will You Be?
You may have been thinking about writing your book for a long time.
The real risk isn’t writing a bad book.
The real risk is never writing the book at all.
A year from now you could still be thinking about your idea…
Or you could be holding a published book and saying,
“I actually did it.”
If you’re ready to stop stalling and start finishing, I’d love to welcome you into BookCamp.
